Two breads in the same bag, one with sesame, and four more
Check this one first: two breads, one bag design, one of them has sesame
Prince Bakery of the Bronx is recalling five of its breads for undeclared sesame or milk, and the packaging is the part to read twice. The Sesame Italian Bread Large and the Sesame French Bread Large, both 12 oz, ship in the same green and yellow bag. The 8 oz Sesame Italian Bread and the 10 oz Sesame Long French Bread share a red and yellow bag. The Pan de Manteca Spanish Style Bread, 8 oz, comes in blue, yellow and green, and it has whey, a milk protein, in the recipe that the “Contains” statement left off.
The Italian and French breads did not name sesame in the ingredients or in the “Contains” line at all. An FDA inspection found it, not a customer and not a reaction. These went to bodegas and small retail markets around the Bronx and Westchester, New York. Shelf life is three to five days, so most are long gone, though the notice points out they may have been frozen.
The correction: the veggie chips were wheat, not gluten, and they are now Class 1
On August 7 the CFIA recalled Momchipz Veggie Chips, Broccoli Florets & Cauliflower for undeclared gluten. On August 21 it updated that warning to identify wheat as the source and raised the recall to Class 1, its top severity. Exotique Foods updated its US press release on August 24 to say the same thing.
If you read the first version and filed it as a coeliac problem, it is also a wheat-allergy recall, and Class 1 is the level the CFIA uses when a reaction is a realistic outcome. 3 oz bags, UPC 6 28634 44216 6, best before 2026 AUGUST 31.

Wu Xian Zhai Vegetarian beef and Preserved beancurd, undeclared wheat, Class 1, 108 g packets in four varieties (Five spices and Numb & spicy vegetarian beef, Spices beef and Pepper beef preserved beancurd), all codes where wheat is not declared, in Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan.
Cardinal Roadhouse Chicken Burgers, undeclared egg, 852 g boxes of six 142 g patties, UPC 0 63351 01567 3, best before 2026 NO 17, recalled by Cardinal Meat Specialists in British Columbia, Newfoundland and Labrador, and Ontario.
The pattern this week
Kim Phat’s Seafood Medley carries four of the nine at once, egg, fish, soy, and wheat, in one 500 g pack. Wu Xian Zhai’s vegetarian beef and preserved beancurd carry undeclared wheat, in the aisle a wheat-allergic shopper walks specifically for the meat substitutes.
Prince Bakery is the other end of it. Two different breads ship in one bag design, so the sesame loaf and the loaf without it look identical on a bodega shelf, and the Spanish-style bread had whey in it the whole time. Nobody reacted. An inspector read a label.
